But I will tarry at Ephesus until Pentecost. For a great door and effectual is opened unto me, and there are many adversaries

1 Corinthians 16:8-9 (KJV)

I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture

John 10:9 (KJV)

I have placed before you an open door that no one can shut. I know that you have little strength, yet you have kept my word and have not denied my name

Revelation 3:8 (NIV)

Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits: Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases; Who redeemeth thy life from destruction; who crowneth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies; Who satisfieth thy mouth with good things; so that thy youth is renewed like the eagle's.

Psalm 103: 2 - 5 (KJV)

THANKSGIVING

The word “Thanksgiving” can be defined as the expression of gratitude, especially to almighty God. One of the great commandments is to give thanks to God, for all he has done for us. According to Psalm 100:4 we are to “enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his Courts with praise; be thankful unto him, and bless his name”. Christ, himself, was the perfect example of obeying this commandment.

It is also giving thanks to God for many blessings which should not be limited to only good times but also bad times thereby giving us the opportunity to demonstrate our faith in God. Thanksgiving will draw our hearts out to God and keep us engaged with him, it will take our attention from ourselves and give the Holy spirit room in our hearts.

Some of benefits of thanksgiving include:

  • It unlocks many doors
  • Whenever thanksgiving goes up, showers of blessings automatically comes down - Psalm 100:5
  • It strengthens Faith - strengthens our dependence on God for every provision and upholds the biblical truths on the faithfulness of God
  • It keeps our lives clear of darkness, anxiety, sin and deception. Rom 1:21, Phil 4:6
  • It draws us closer to God

We can show thanksgiving to God by:

  • By remembering him in our thoughts, words and deeds. It is impossible to give gratitude to God if we never think or speak of him. We can also memorize the scriptures to remember his promises and show gratitude.
  • By identifying his lordship over our lives-Counting our blessings and realize that we are who and what we are because of God. 1 Thess 5:18..Reflecting on all God has done for us in all areas of our lives i.e spiritually, financially, physically etc. especially the sacrificing of our Lord Jesus Christ which is the greatest gift of all.
  • By giving thanks in prayer-We should thank God as often as we pray that we should have his spirit in us to teach us to pray. We should bear it in mind that the prayer that begins with trustfulness and passes on into waiting, will always end in thankfulness, triumph and praise. We show our dependence on God through prayerful thanksgiving which should be done daily.
  • By praise: We should praise and thank God through songs with the use of musical instruments, clapping of hands etc. Eph 5;19, Ps 69:30, Jer 30:19.
  • By repentance- Always being conscious of our wrongdoings and confessing our sins is a way of showing gratitude to God .Gratitude is also the foundation upon which repentance is built because it shows we acknowledge the mercy of God. Repentance cleanses us of our sins and brings about additional blessings if done with a sincere heart and willingness to desist from such sins.
  • By expressing gratitude to others: showing gratitude to people and helping others is a way of showing gratitude to God. This is seen in Matt 25:40- which says “Inasmuch as you have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, you have done it unto me”. This is thanksgiving to God by serving Him through others.

Thanksgiving to God is fundamental to a believer because it is the only means of communicating with God which is inclusive of worship, prayer, faith, holiness, giving and sacrifice. We are all encouraged to reach out to the unsaved and encourage them to come along with you and your family. And as we give thanks to God in this service, God would place a seal over our Blessings via the prophetic word.

OPEN DOOR:

Doors represent a way of passage, access, transition.  God opens doors for the redeemed, and when He does it is impossible for any obstacle to successfully get in the way of His purposes. But 1Corinthians 16:9 tells us that even though God has opened a great door fo us, there are still adversaries that prevent us from having access.

These adversaries could be from:

  • Self  - Rom 7:18 (KJV) - For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find not."

  • Other Christians - Rom 14:21 (KJV) - It is good neither to eat flesh, nor to drink wine, nor any thing whereby thy brother stumbleth, or is offended, or is made weak."

  • Enemies - Prov 4:16 (KJV) - For they sleep not, except they have done mischief; and their sleep is taken away, unless they cause some to fall."

  • Our past and bad attitudes.

  • Then we have Satan himself who is our biggest adversaries that hinders us and challenges our redemption rights.

Keys To Open Doors:

  • Praise (Acts 16:22-27)

  • Prayer (Acts 12:1-7/Luke 11:5-10/Matthew 7:7/John 14:14)

  • Discernment (Corinthians 16:9/Revelation 3:8)

  • Courage (Psalm 24:7-8/Psalm 24:7-8)

  • Giving (Malachi 3:6-10)

Ways To Shut Open Doors:

  • Sin (James 4:17)

  •  Lack Of Vigilance and Prayerlessness (Matthew 26:41/Mark 11:23/Ecclesiastes 9:11)

  • Not keeping God's Word

  • Denying God's Name (Revelation 3:11-12)

Open doors mean great opportunities and God can open any door no matter the adversaries, storms and tribulations in our way. Come for Next Sunday's services expecting an encounter with the master key Himself. Those who thought you were finished are going to be dazzled by your success because your door to explosive progress will be opened. In an instant, God will put to an end to all your challenges and miraculously level every one of your mountains and perpetual hill. Come expectant of additional encounters with God as we celebrate him. Everyone is admonished to come along with at least two souls to Church for a life changing encounter via the word.

Jesus is Lord!!!
